Off-road driving classes

Choose the class that fits your goals.

Build a skill base

Whatever your purpose in training with OEX, our curriculum is designed to teach you both the science and the art of off-roading in three core areas: Driving, Recovery, and Repair.

Choose between our 1-day, 2-day, or 3-day classes depending on your goals and objectives. These courses are all open enrollment group classes. Our methodical approach to instruction and our purpose-built courses enable fast progression with limited down-time during training. Regardless of which class and training location you choose, the message will be the same: linear progress, method, repetition, and practice—leading to mastery.

Some of the topics covered in our training are:

  • 5 Vehicle Systems™ - What they are and why they are important.
  • Mechanical: 4×4 systems, AWD & lockers.
  • Vehicle Familiarization - Vehicle setup and Bells & Whistles mastery: “What does that setting do?”
  • Terrain negotiation - Wheel placement, hills, side slopes, ditches, moguls, moderate rock, and comprehensive spotting exercises.
  • Manual vs. automatic transmission off-road and gear choice — Where, when, why?
  • Recovery: Kinetic rope, inWinch & Hi-Lift jack.
  • Field Expedient Repair: Trail repair instruction so your vehicle will start, run, roll, steer & stop.
  • Trail etiquette: Responsibilities & Environment.
  • Equipment Options & Vehicle Modifications.

Attended their 2-day 101 and Recovery course...The team was incredibly knowledgeable and most importantly, were patient. I learned more in two days than I could have learned on my own. By the end of it, we were going over obstacles, climbs, and descents that I would have never considered. This was life experience for me and I hope to do it again.
